Blake Jones

When asked what inspires him to dedicate his time to supporting Northumberland Hills Hospital (NHH), Blake reflects on his childhood and on lessons learned from his family at an early age.

Blake’s mother spent many years canvassing for local non-profits – the Heart & Stroke Foundation, Canadian Cancer Society, and the Salvation Army – and he remembers helping as a young boy, going door to door to collect money. This experience taught him valuable lessons about generosity and community. His family was one that gave back and believed in the importance of volunteering, and he has carried these values with him through life.

At the time they moved from Toronto to Cobourg in 1988, Blake and his wife, Nora, had two children and one on the way. Having both been raised in smaller towns, Blake in Ontario and Nora in Nova Scotia, they chose this community for the friendly small town feel it provided while maintaining proximity to Toronto, where Nora commuted to work. The two quickly made this community their home, and Blake continued to implement the lessons he learned from his family. He has served on the Board of the Cobourg Chamber of Commerce and has been a dedicated member of the Rotary Club of Cobourg for over 30 years. In addition to recently taking on a leadership role to support the Exceptional Community, Exceptional Care campaign, Blake has served on NHH Foundation’s Board of Directors since 2013.

As an Investment Advisor with RBC Dominion Securities in Cobourg, Blake sees the need for a strong hospital in our community, ready to help the many people he interacts with every day – his friends, family, neighbours, and clients. He feels it is a vital service in need of community support to ensure people in
our County do not have to worry about continuing to have access to excellent care when they need it.
