Priorities

Your gift offers more than just better health in our community

Current Projects

Current Capital Priorities

Every year, thousands of people from across Northumberland come to NHH seeking expert care and/or treatment to help restore their health. From labour and delivery to palliative, diagnostics to acute care and outpatient care, Northumberland Hills Hospital serves its community at the highest level of health care possible.

While the majority of our province’s hospitals’ operating dollars flow from Ontario’s Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care, funding for capital equipment remains the responsibility of the community whose members will benefit most from their own investment. The best hospitals are the ones that have generous communities. With continued investment from our community, we will enhance the care provided, support the attraction of talented medical expertise to our community and save more lives.

Gifts today will help purchase priority medical equipment and technology for our hospital as approved by the Hospital's Board of Directors, support continuing education for staff and physicians, and contribute to the expansion of services available in our community. There are several areas of care where donors have an opportunity to make a difference in the availability, timeliness and quality of patient care that our friends, neighbours and loved ones will receive at NHH.

  • Ambulatory Care
  • Cancer & Supportive Care Clinic
  • Community Mental Health Services
  • Diagnostic Imaging
  • Dialysis
  • Emergency
  • Intensive Care Unit
  • Laboratory
  • Maternal Child Care
  • Palliative Care
  • Rehabilitation
  • Restorative Care
  • Surgical Services
  • Therapies
  • Women's Health

Quite often generous donors will purchase a piece of equipment outright, providing staff and physicians with immediate access to state-of-the-art technology to enhance patient care.  Some examples of our hospital's current equipment needs include:

  • Nuclear Medicine Dose Calibrator  - $20,000
  • Low Temp Sterilizer - $125,500
  • Zoll Defibrillators (5) & Crash Carts (2) - $123,000
  • Radiant Newborn Warmers (6) - $28,000
  • Treadmill for Nuclear Stress Testing - $70,000
  • Endoeye Laparascope (2) - $28,000
  • Seating Matters Positioning Chair - $5,945
  • Hospital Beds - $6,600
  • Stretchers - $8,000

Upcoming Priorities

With the demand for Northumberland Hills Hospital’s services changing and growing as our population continues to increase and age, we are undertaking the largest campaign in our hospital and Northumberland County’s history to ensure residents across west Northumberland have access to faster, better, and smarter care close to home.

Our upcoming Exceptional Community, Exceptional Care campaign will help us better connect and partner with healthcare providers locally and regionally, expand our capacity to offer virtual care in the future, and will dramatically improve the patient, family, and provider experience by focusing on three key priorities:

  • Fund the purchase of both a new Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) and Computed Tomography (CT) scanner

  • Support the implementation of a new integrated clinical information system that will fundamentally change the delivery of healthcare

  • Continue to allow NHH to invest in new and improved technology in all departments throughout the hospital
