NORTHUMBERLAND COUNTY - The chilly temperatures on Saturday, December 5th were a contrast to the warm hearts displayed by those in attendance at Family Christmas at Spry Christmas Tree Farm. With more than 175 trees sold in support of Northumberland Hills Hospital (NHH) Foundation, record breaking funds were raised by this event, with a grand total of over $28,000 directed towards NHH Foundation’s Light Up a Life campaign.
This year marked the sixth annual event hosted by the Spry family, with returning sponsors Baker Tilly, Ontario Line Clearing, Cameco, Tim Hortons, and Craft Food House. The 2020 outdoor fundraiser looked a little different than past years with new precautions in place to help keep attendees and volunteers safe, but the spirit at the center of it all remained.
“Since the first event held in 2015, this fundraiser has grown each year in size and popularity as the Spry family and dedicated volunteers have continued to give their all to ensure a successful, fun day,” shares Natasha Jacobs, Special Events Officer for NHH Foundation. “There are quite a number of volunteers who have never missed a year, they plan for and look forward to helping at this event just as much as the families attending do. We feel so fortunate to have such dedicated people involved and giving their time to help. The Spry Family is incredibly generous to host this event each year and we are so grateful. We love seeing families returning each year as part of their annual Christmas traditions, and we were thrilled to welcome many new faces this year.”
With more than $28,000 raised from the 2020 event, this record-breaking year brings the grand total raised over the past six years to an incredible $82,000
Proceeds from this year’s Light Up a Life campaign will support NHH’s highest priorities. To learn more about the campaign, visit www.NHHFoundation.ca/Events.
