Courtyard at Northumberland Hills Hospital Decorated by Volunteer Elves

NORTHUMBERLAND COUNTY- The Rotary Club of Cobourg Courtyard at Northumberland Hills Hospital (NHH) has been twinkling into the evening for the last week thanks to the efforts of some generous local elves. Since the hospital first opened its doors in 2003, NHH Foundation has been decorating the Courtyard over the holiday season, but these decorations have been elevated in recent years as a result of the dedication and leadership of this volunteer group.

For the past three years, efforts have been led by ‘Head Elf,’ Dave Cromlish and ‘Chief Building Elf,’ Jim Maguire, along with many worker elves who come together to bring a little extra joy and beauty to the staff and patients of NHH each winter. The display grows a little more extravagant each year and the 2020 additions include an airplane piloted by a gingerbread person and other gingerbread people mingling around the Courtyard – all of who are appropriately masked.

“We are so grateful to the volunteers that come each year to brighten up the Rotary Club of Cobourg Courtyard at NHH for the Holiday season,” says Natasha Jacobs, Special Events Officer at NHH Foundation. “There is so much work that goes into this, from building and refreshing the set, to setting it all up and taking it all down at the end of the season. This year, with so many restrictions and changes, we are happy this could stay the same. This display brings joy to so many of the staff, patients and those who are at NHH during this time. A huge thank you to everyone involved!”
