Lions Club of Cobourg Awarded Dr. of Philanthropy Honour

NORTHUMBERLAND COUNTY –

Members of the Lions Club of Cobourg recently held their meeting at the Northumberland Hills Hospital (NHH). Following dinner, a tour of the Lions and Lioness Cancer and Supportive Care Clinic was led by Program Manager, Amy Miedema.
It was also an opportunity to surprise members of the Club with a Dr. of Philanthropy honour.4

Established in 2015, the Dr. of Philanthropy award recognizes those who have made a substantial contribution to improving the health in our community. This contribution can be made in a variety of ways and is not based only on monetary donations.

“We have enjoyed a partnership with this Club since the NHH Foundation was established in 1993. For over 30 years, they have stood with us and supported us in any ask we ever make of them,” stated NHH Foundation CEO, Rhonda Cunningham.

“I don’t know if this Club knows how to say no,” she continued.

The Lions Club volunteers their assistance at several hospital events during the year and provides free space for the NHH Foundation’s annual Wine & Ale event.

“This is the first time an organization has been recognized with the honour. We are so pleased to thank this amazing Club for their dedication to supporting Northumberland Hills Hospital,” Cunningham continued.
Lion Ron Wiebe was selected to receive the honour from Dr. Mukesh Bhargava and Dr. Kate Everdell.
