NHH Foundation Invites Community to Host Summer Lemonade Stands in Support of Hospital

MEDIA RELEASE

For Immediate Release

July 4, 2022

NORTHUMBERLAND COUNTY – One could say the healthcare industry has been handed quite a few lemons in recent years, and this summer, Northumberland Hills Hospital (NHH) Foundation is asking the Northumberland community to help turn these into lemonade with a new fundraising initiative. Through their new program, aptly named Lemon-Aid, the Foundation is inviting community members to sign up to host lemonade stands in support of NHH any time during the months of July and August.

“We’re hoping this will be an easy and fun way for kids and their families to get involved in philanthropy,” says Megan Fluxgold, NHH Foundation’s Community Engagement and Events Specialist. “Kids really are the future, and this is a way for them to support healthcare in our community and help ensure we continue to have a strong, vibrant hospital ready to care for our growing population for years to come.”

“That being said, there is no age limit for participants,” Fluxgold adds. “We’ve heard from young families ready to join, grandparents excited to host stands with their grandkids, adults looking to get involved, and more. Whether young or young-at-heart, anyone willing to host a stand is welcome to sign up.”

Lemon-Aid is being sponsored by Davis’ Your Independent Grocer in Port Hope and upon registration, participants will receive kits to help them get their stands started. Those interested in hosting a stand can contact Fluxgold at mfluxgold@nhh.ca or 905-372-6811 ext. 3068 to sign up and coordinate a kit pick-up.

Locations of stands will be shared throughout the summer on both the Foundation’s website, www.NHHFoundation.ca, and social media channels. Funds raised through Lemon-Aid will be totaled at the end of the summer season and will collectively help support the purchase of critical medical equipment and technology at NHH.

Visit www.NHHFoundation.ca for more information on how you can register to participate and to find a list of upcoming Lemon-Aid stands to visit throughout the summer.
