December 15, 2022

NORTHUMBERLAND COUNTY – The weather outside was not too frightful for families and friends to search for their perfect Christmas tree at the eighth annual Family Christmas at Spry Family Christmas Tree Farm on Saturday, December 3, 2022. With more than 140 trees sold in support of Northumberland Hills Hospital (NHH) Foundation, a grand total of $30,460 was directed towards NHH Foundation’s Light Up a Life campaign.

As in years past, this event was hosted by Sharron Wharram-Spry and Brian Spry at their Christmas tree farm on Danforth Road W in Cobourg. Returning sponsors included Baker Tilly, Wharram Tree Service Ltd., Cameco, Tim Hortons (Toronto Road and Highway 28 locations in Port Hope), Canada Candy Company, and Craft Food House; with Ley Hall Wealth Management, Cobourg Nissan, and Just in Time Sanitation joining as new sponsors for 2022.

“There are many, including me, who look forward to this tradition each year,” shares Rhonda Cunningham, Chief Executive Officer of NHH Foundation. “It was wonderful to see smiling faces and kick off the holiday season with our community. We want to thank all those who came together in support of our Hospital – from our generous hosts, Sharron and Brian; to the plethora of dedicated volunteers; returning and new attendees; and event sponsors – thank you all!”

With $30,460 raised from the 2022 event, this annual fundraiser has now raised more than $143,000 over its eight years in support of Light Up a Life.

Proceeds from this year’s Light Up a Life campaign will support an upgrade to the cardiac monitoring system across NHH, which will include additional cardiac monitors and a new central monitoring system in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).
