Royal Canadian Legion Br. 133 Celebrates National Legion Week with a Donation to Northumberland Hills Hospital Foundation

Royal Canadian Legion Br. 133 had a special way of celebrating the kick-off of National Legion Week.  Members made their way to Northumberland Hills Hospital (NHH) with a donation of $5,650 for the purchase of a telemetry pack.

After learning the Hospital hopes to purchase four (4) telemetry packs in the coming year, the Legion stepped forward to make one of the units possible.

Telemetry is a technology that allows for continuous monitoring of heart rates and rhythms. If changes are detected, an alarm is sounded to alert the care team.

“We have many patients who require this level of monitoring, especially when they are first admitted to hospital. Conditions such as atrial fibrillation, certain strokes, unexpected fainting episodes or chest pain all may result in the need for telemetry. Our hospital is growing with our community and our need for telemetry continues to grow,” shares Kate Zimmerman, Vice-President Integrated Care and Chief Nursing Executive. “We are so grateful to the Legion for this amazing gift.”
