Catch the Ace Lottery Returns Even Bigger Than Before

For Immediate Release

August 27, 2025

NORTHUMBERLAND COUNTY – The Catch the Ace Lottery in support of Northumberland Hills Hospital (NHH) Foundation is back, with a promise to be bigger and better than ever before. For starters, the progressive jackpot has launched with a minimum $10,000 prize, which will grow even bigger with each passing week until the ace of spades is caught. Tickets for this progressive lottery are on sale as of 3:00p.m. Wednesday, August 27, with the first weekly draw taking place Wednesday, September 3.

A popular lottery format that has proven successful for many other hospital foundations across Ontario, Catch the Ace features both weekly prizes throughout the duration of the program and a progressive jackpot for one lucky winner. For every ticket sold, 50% of the sale will go to NHH Foundation, 20% to the weekly prize, and 30% to the progressive jackpot. As the program progresses and more tickets are sold, the progressive jackpot will grow until it is won.

At the time of purchase, ticket holders will select one envelope they think contains the ace of spades. Each week, a ticket from that week’s sale will be drawn and if the ace of spades is revealed, the ticket holder will win both the weekly prize as well as the progressive jackpot. If the ace of spades is not in the chosen envelope, the ticket holder will still win the weekly cash prize, but the progressive jackpot will carry over to the next week, when a new round of tickets will be sold.

“We’re excited to bring back our Catch the Ace lottery, bigger and better than ever,” shares Rhonda Cunningham, NHH Foundation CEO. “We really saw interest in this grow throughout the program last year and are hopeful with the new guaranteed progressive jackpot of $10,000, we will raise even more funds for NHH. This is a fun way for the community to not only have a chance to win something for themselves, but also to help place medical equipment into the hands of our medical team.”

Starting August 27, tickets will go on sale starting at 3:00p.m. every Wednesday and will be sold until 1:00p.m. the following Wednesday. Weekly draws will be held at 2:00p.m. every Wednesday, starting September 3, with tickets for the next week going on sale following this draw at 3:00p.m. until the ace of spades is caught. Tickets will be priced at one for $10, three for $20 or 10 for $50 and will be sold both online at www.nhhcatchtheace.ca, at the NHH Foundation Office, and in person at locations and events around the Northumberland community.
