NORTHUMBERLAND COUNTY – A year of extraordinary generosity and community support made the 2025-26 fiscal year the most successful in the history of Northumberland Hills Hospital (NHH) Foundation, with more than $7.5 million raised. At the Foundation’s Annual Meeting on June 17, 2026, volunteers, staff, and other guests heard of the record-setting fundraising and transformative investments made to help advance patient care close to home.
“The achievement of raising $7.5 million is far more than a number on a balance sheet,” shared Foundation CEO, Rhonda Cunningham in her remarks. “It is a testament to how deeply our community cares about its hospital and how willing people are to support its success. This record-breaking year reflects trust, belief, and a shared understanding that a strong hospital is the heartbeat of a strong community.”
Cunningham went on to reflect on key highlights and accomplishments of the fiscal year, including incredible support from third-party fundraisers, strong community support of the Light Up a Life Campaign and special events, the introduction of a refreshed brand, and key advancements to policy and organizational capacity led by the Board.
Reflecting on her first year as Chair of the NHH Foundation Board of Directors, Carrie McArthur Low thanked her fellow Board colleagues for their dedication and support, expressed her appreciation to Foundation CEO and the staff team for the care and passion they pour into their roles, and recognized the leadership and expertise of the NHH leadership team.
“This year has offered a front row seat to all of the coordination, expertise, and dedication required to run this hospital,” shared McArthur Low. “I have gained a better understanding of the pressures facing our healthcare system, the complexity of decision making, and the unwavering commitment to quality care by those who lead it.”
In line with the Board’s By-Laws, the Audited Financial Statements as of March 31, 2026, were presented and accepted, auditors were engaged for the current fiscal, and the annual Election of Directors was presented. The Board recognized outgoing Board Directors: Past Chair, Gavin Ivory; Treasurer, Ian MacVicar; and former Physician Representative, Dr. Kate Everdell; for their many years contributing their unique skills and expertise to the Board.
Executive roles and Committee Chairs were confirmed for the 2026-27 fiscal at the first meeting of the new Board, immediately following the Annual Meeting. Continuing for a second term in the roles of Chair and Vice Chair were Carrie McArthur Low, and Denise O’Brien, respectively. Moving into the role of Treasurer was David Dexter, who joined the Board in 2023. Biographies for all Directors can be found at www.nhhfoundation.ca.
