NORTHUMBERLAND COUNTY – On the evening of Wednesday, September 23, Northumberland Hills Hospital (NHH) Foundation welcomed approximately 60 donors to the hospital for a behind-the-scenes look at five recent projects made possible through community support.

“This afternoon’s tour gives us a wonderful opportunity to move beyond simply talking about the impact of philanthropy and, instead, to see it firsthand,” shared Foundation CEO, Rhonda Cunningham, when addressing the group. “Your generosity, your commitment, and your belief in the importance of exceptional healthcare have made an extraordinary difference to our hospital and, most importantly, to the patients and families we serve.”

The tour, which was by invitation, focused on key projects and equipment that were supported by those in attendance, including the new SPECT CT Nuclear Medicine Camera, the new MRI, new Laboratory Analyzers, and updates on progress towards renovations of the Medical Device Reprocessing Department (MDRD), and the creation of a new Operating Suite.

“Our community’s impact can be seen, felt, and heard inside our hospital,” continued Cunningham. “I hope that when you walk into each of these spaces, you will feel a tremendous sense of pride in knowing that you helped make these improvements possible.”

After acknowledging the hospital team members who joined the tour to share expertise and enthusiasm for the work they do with attendees, as well as the dedicated hospital leadership and project managers who helped bring key investments from ideas to reality, Cunningham introduced NHH President and CEO, Susan Walsh.

“Growth and continuous enhancement of NHH services would not be possible without the generous support of many community donors,” says Susan Walsh, NHH President and CEO.  “These growth projects undertaken at NHH in the past year are the result of the hard work of many teams at the hospital, and I congratulate them on completing these projects on time and on budget while also juggling many other competing priorities. NHH remains committed to continuously improving our services and bringing patient care closer to home. We are grateful to our donors and the work of the Foundation.”

Welcoming remarks were also delivered by NHH Chief of Staff, Dr. Paul Ketov.

Returning to the podium before attendees set out for their tour, Cunningham concluded with a message of gratitude.

“Thank you for believing in this hospital,” she shared. “Thank you for investing in our community. And thank you for helping us ensure that our healthcare professionals have the equipment, technology, and environment they need to provide the very best care possible.”

Summer Bellamy11
Breast Cancer Awareness Month
For years, community support has helped bring vital breast health technology and resources to NHH. This October, we’re raising funds to modernize our breast health program with a new 3D mammography, advanced ultrasound, bone density scanning, and wire-free localization technology. Learn more about key investments to be made here.

Together, we can bring the benefits of new technology to those who depend on our hospital, while supporting earlier detection and improved comfort for patients like Summer.

“When you donate to NHH, you may never know exactly whose life your donation touches, but there is a very good chance it will eventually be someone you know,” shares Summer. “Donations aren’t just buying equipment. They’re helping give people answers. They’re helping shorten the distance between uncertainty and diagnosis. And they’re helping healthcare professionals provide the kind of care they want to provide.”
