NORTHUMBERLAND COUNTY – Northumberland Hills Hospital (NHH) Foundation is proud to announce the success of the first annual Northumberland Pickleball Classic, which raised more than $28,000 in support of NHH’s breast health program.
The inaugural tournament took place on Saturday, May 2, 2026 at the newly opened Dink Den in Cobourg, bringing together players of all skill levels for a day of friendly competition, community spirit, and philanthropy.
Proceeds from the tournament will help introduce the latest wire-free breast tissue localization technology for patients with tumours that can’t be felt, only seen on scans or tests. This less invasive method improves patient comfort, supports more precise marking of abnormal areas for biopsy or removal, and increases operational efficiency. The technology was successfully introduced at NHH on a trial basis and community support will help to adopt this permanently for future patients.
“We were blown away by the incredible turnout and energy,” shares Courtney Ker, NHH Foundation Manager, Community Giving. “Seeing so many people come together in support of our hospital was inspiring and we’re deeply grateful to our sponsors, volunteers, and every participant who made the day such a success. This event would not have been possible without the support of our sponsors, including the ‘Big Dill’ sponsor, Canadian Insurance Brokers Inc. (CIBI), as well as the many business partners who contributed to this outstanding community effort.”
With the successful event now wrapped up, organizers are excited to take the learnings from this year and build on the momentum to make the Northumberland Pickleball Classic an annual tradition in support of NHH.
