Lemon-AID for NHH Raises $2,400
NORTHUMBERLAND COUNTY – On the afternoon of Monday, October 5, some of the young philanthropists who had supported Northumberland Hills Hospital (NHH) over the summer gathered at NHH for the official wrap-up of the 5th annual Lemon-AID initiative. Lemon-AID stand hosts along with their families came together to hear the exciting news: this year, they collectively raised $2,400.
Lemon-AID is an annual program hosted by NHH Foundation that invites the young and young-at-heart to host their own lemonade stand to raise funds for the hospital. Proceeds from the stands help purchase cozy beanies for patients of the Lions and Lioness Cancer and Supportive Care Clinic, as well as stuffies for children needing surgery.
“Thank you all for helping patients at NHH,” shared Rhonda Cunningham, addressing the young crowd. “When you think about how you all came together to raise $2,400 – much of it coming in as loonies and toonies – it is truly impressive. I hope you know how much this means to patients at our hospital.”
The community’s support for this initiative was on clear display this summer with 8 Lemon-AID stands hosted over the season.
Lemon-AID was sponsored for the fifth year in a row by Davis’ Your Independent Grocer in Port Hope, with participants receiving kits inclusive of gift cards to the Independent to kick start their stands. Hosts planned and executed their individual stands on a date of their choosing, then donated the proceeds to NHH Foundation.
