NORTHUMBERLAND COUNTY – Northumberland Hills Hospital (NHH) Foundation has a reason to smile. The Foundation, which raises funds for medical equipment, technology, and programs at NHH, has been selected as the recipient of proceeds from the 2026 Smile Cookie campaign at ten local Tim Hortons restaurants. Funds raised through this initiative will directly support the purchase of medical equipment for NHH’s Emergency Department.
During the annual Smile Cookie Week, Tim Hortons’ classic chocolate chunk cookies are transformed into Smile Cookies: hand-decorated treats that support select local charities in the communities each restaurant serves. This year, Smile Cookie Week runs from April 27 to May 3, 2026, and cookies sold at local restaurants in Port Hope, Cobourg, and Colborne will benefit NHH. “We are incredibly grateful and excited to have been chosen as a recipient of this year’s Smile Cookie campaign,” shares Rhonda Cunningham, NHH Foundation CEO. “This is an opportunity to come together and make a real impact on local healthcare. We’re calling on our community to join in and show their support in a number of ways – buy a cookie, place a bulk order, volunteer to decorate, bring your friends and family, and help us spread the word. Every cookie will make a difference for patients needing emergency care.”
Volunteer support will play a critical role in success, with volunteers needed to help decorate cookies at each of the restaurants noted above throughout Smile Cookie Week. Volunteer shifts are two hours in length, starting April 27 and running every day until May 3. Volunteers must be 14 years or older and those who are under 18 years of age require written parental permission. Those interested in volunteering can do so by signing up at NHHFoundation.ca/SmileCookie or calling 905-372-6811 ext. 3066.
Businesses and individuals interested in placing bulk orders are encouraged to do so in advance. Please visit NHHFoundation.ca/SmileCookie to access a Bulk Order form and submit this to your preferred Tim Hortons restaurant at least 48 hours before your specified pick-up date and time.
