Lemon-AID for NHH Returns to Northumberland County

Lemon-AID for NHH Returns to Northumberland County

MEDIA RELEASE

For Immediate Release

June 12, 2024

NORTHUMBERLAND COUNTY – The young and young-a-heart are invited to raise funds for Northumberland Hills Hospital (NHH) Foundation this summer with the return of Lemon-Aid.

First introduced in 2022, Lemon-Aid encourages entrepreneurs to sign-up to host a lemonade stand anytime from now until September with the proceeds donated to NHH Foundation.

It’s proven to be a popular initiative. Last year over $6,000 was raised to buy beanies and specialty socks and gloves for patients receiving chemotherapy at the Hospital’s Lions and Lioness Cancer and Supportive Care Clinic.

“We were looking for a simple idea to engage young philanthropists in the work of helping to care for their community,” shares Rhonda Cunningham, NHH Foundation CEO.  “The idea of hosting a simple lemonade stand was suggested.  Since the program started in 2022, our hearts have been warmed seeing and hearing the stories of how excited the hosts have become with their stands. And for some it is now their summer tradition.”

Lemon-Aid is sponsored by Davis’ Your Independent Grocer in Port Hope and upon registration, participants will receive kits to help them get their stands started. There is no age restriction for participating, and the Foundation hopes to see those, new and returning, getting on board to host this year.

Those interested in hosting a stand can contact Chelsea Wolf, NHH Foundation Communications Coordinator at cwolf@nhh.ca or 905-372-6811 ext. 3065 to sign up and coordinate a kit pick-up.

Locations of stands will be shared throughout the summer on both the Foundation’s website, www.NHHFoundation.ca/events/lemon-aid-for-nhh-2024, and social media channels. Funds raised through Lemon-Aid will be totaled at the end of the summer season and a collective total will be announced.

Visit www.NHHFoundation.ca for more information on how you can register to participate and to find a list of upcoming Lemon-Aid stands to visit throughout the summer.
